The National Conference Center Completes “Operation Allies Welcome” Mission

Conference center concludes largest humanitarian mission to date

Loudoun County, VA –

The National Conference Center, a premier meeting and conference facility in Loudoun County, Virginia, has completed its contract with the U.S. Government supporting the second phase of the “Operation Allies Welcome” mission. In March of 2022, The National Conference Center (NCC) began performing a contract with DOD providing lodging and food to our Afghan allies looking to resettle and start new lives in the United States.

“I can't say enough about my team and all that they have accomplished throughout these past months and the immense gratitude for the ongoing support from the community,” said John Walsh, general manager of The National Conference Center. “We could not have done this without the aid of our civic leaders and the partnerships with various organizations throughout Loudoun County. This effort was about putting our best foot forward in a critical time, and we could not be more honored to have played a small part in the transition of thousands of our allies as they begin their new lives throughout the Nation.”

This humanitarian mission known as Operation Allies Welcome (OAW), is the U.S. Government’s effort to support and resettle Afghan nationals, including those who aided the U.S. for the past two decades in Afghanistan, in the United States. These allies included journalists, human rights activists, humanitarian workers, and those who supported the U.S. military and civilian personnel in Afghanistan, and often took significant safety risks to do so.

Upon this completion, more than 4,500 allies have passed through The National Conference Center. Beginning October 1, 2022, The National will return to normal business operations of hosting meetings, conferences, and gatherings.
